Abstract
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been much talk of developing a vaccine to build immunity and end the rise in cases. But what happens when a vaccine is finally introduced? Through mathematical modeling, we can predict how a vaccine would impact the trajectory of the pandemic. This app works through 3 compartmental epidemiological models for the introduction of a vaccine in the COVID-19 pandemic in the US. You'll examine the behavior of each model and adjust variables to determine what would happen if a vaccine were introduced. After the models are built, you will use real US COVID-19 data to find variables that can be used to simulate a US-specific scenario for vaccination. These fitted models are then used to explore the vaccination conditions necessary to end the pandemic.
