Abstract

pc4demo is a nanoHUB tool (app) that provides a PhysiCell Studio GUI and three sample models (in the Model menu). The default model is the "template". Therefore, you can click the Run tab and the "Run Simulation" button which will start the template model simulation. While it's running, click the Plot tab and the "Play" button to see results. With the default phenotype parameters (in the Cell Types tab) for the template model, the cells will experience both proliferation and death.

Currently, results are not be stored permanently on nanoHUB. However, you can (or will soon) be able to download results using the File menu.

You can experiment with modifying the template model to see more complex behaviors, e.g.,

  • Config Basics tab: lower the "Save data (intervals)" to be 20 and 20. Warning: if the intervals for SVG and Full are not the same, the Plots can be misleading if you display both cells and substrates.
  • Microenvironment tab: diffusion coef=100, decay rate=0, initial cond=0, Dirichlet BC=38 (click Apply to all)
  • Cell Types tab: Motility subtab: check both "enable motility" and Chemotaxis "enabled"
  • Run the simulation, Plot results with both "cells" and "substrates" checked.
