Can S4 be used to simulate vertical tapering nanowire arrays by divide the arrays into different levels?

I try to simulate the optical reflectance of vertical tapering nanowire arrays(nanowires have smaller top diameter and larger bottom diameter ). I divide the arrays into several levels(Each level has different diameter). Is that a proper way to do that?

Thanks!

what you have simulated is effectively a step tapering rather than continuous tapering (which I believe is closer to the actual nanowires).

But if you use very fine thickness of layers, I think there won't  be too much of a difference in the output as compared to the actual continuously tapered nanowires.
