Abstract

The purpose of this investigation is twofold: 1) To use the skills of scientific inquiry to uncover the most likely perpetrator of a crime, and 2) To employ a paper diagnostics tool as a forensics device for chemically determining "whodunit".  Students will act as the characters of the scenario as well as work collaboratively to solve the mystery. The activity culminates with the testing of an unknown liquid at the crime scene using paper diagnostics.
