Abstract

Microelectromechcanical Systems (MEMS) rotate the screens on your smartphones, trigger airbags in a car crash, and beat the hearts of patients with serious heart problems.  In this learning module students are introduced to some of the many applications of MEMS and then allowed to explore MEMS in areas of their personal interest.

This learning module includes the following.

  • Learning Module Map (Guide for instruction)
  • Reading Material: MEMS Applications Overview
  • Presentation: MEMS Applications Overview
  • Activity:  Research Activity on a MEMS
  • Final Assessment

Instructors: Please create a nanoHUB account and then request SCME Group membership in order to obtain Instructor Guides and editable slides for your personal classroom use.

Student materials for this learning module are available here.
