BiographyDaniel Rhodes is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received bachelor’s degrees in physics and applied mathematics at Clemson University in 2011, and his PhD at Florida State University where he perfected techniques for bulk crystal synthesis while working with iron-based superconductors and dichalcogenides. Prof. Rhodes spent time at Columbia University between 2016 and late 2019 as a post-doc before starting his professorship. His research interests are focused on cradle-to-grave processing of materials, both in bulk and in 2D - controlling the growth, heterostructure stacking, and fabrication processes in order to yield consistent and higher than otherwise possible quality results.
