| Description | A workspace is a Linux desktop in your browser. It provides access to NCN's Rappture toolkit, along with computational resources available on the NCN, Open Science Grid, and TeraGrid networks. You can use these resources to do research. Or, you can use workspaces as a development area for new tools. You can upload code, compile it, test it, and debug it. Once your code is working properly in a workspace, it is ready to be deployed as a tool on nanoHUB.
You can use normal Linux tools to transfer data into and out of your workspace. For example, NOTE: This facility is currently restricted to NCN PIs, students, staff, collaborators, and partners. If you have problems launching a workspace, you may not be authorized to use workspaces. If you feel you should be authorized, please contact us to request this feature. Please include the name of the NCN PI or partnership supporting your request. |

Thanks for considering my wishes! The wheel scrolling and window resizing work great!

Pretty convenient (and fast!), but I guess I have a "wish list." First, certain minor things that would increase productivity don't work, like mouse wheel scrolling in emacs. Also, it is a little difficult to work inside a window inside a window inside my browser. It would be really nice to have more size control over your virtual desktop (what if I have two monitors?). The lastest version of Rappture is on this system though, and this is the nanohub, so you don't have to worry much about an application developed on another cluster not working when you try to deploy it.
