Abstract

aluru In this talk, I will present our recent results on computational analysis of electric field mediated transport of liquids and electrolytes in nanochannels. First, embedding multiscale methods that incorporate atomistic information into continuum theories will be presented for electrokinetic transport in nanochannels. Second, to account for polarization of the surfaces on water and ion transport, hierarchical multiscale methods combining quantum-mechanical, molecular dynamics and continuum theories will be presented. Third, for integrated transport systems containing nano, micro and macro channels, a circuit level approach will be presented. Finally, some recent results on fluid transport in biomimetic nanochannels will be presented.
