Liquid Dispersion Waste Environmental Procedures

Operation:

Disposal of waste that contains nanoparticles in a liquid dispersion:

  • Liquid dispersions
  • “Solid” waste from cleaning liquid dispersion work spaces and equipment
  • Waste from dispersion spill cleanup

Scope

  • Liquid dispersions of nanomaterials will be stored in a ventilated enclosures until they are properly packaged and sealed for disposition
  • Standard waste analysis will be performed on any waste which contains nanomaterials
  • Appropriate waste streams will be determined based on analysis results
  • As new, proven analysis methods and techniques are developed for nanomaterials, they will be employed in waste stream characterization
