Disposal of dry powder nanowaste

Controls

  • Appropriate PPE and procedures should be employed based on material and exposure Control Band
  • Respiratory protection shall be utilized to prevent potential inhalation of nanomaterials
  • Latex or nitrile clean room gloves
  • Damp laboratory wipes shall be used to minimize particulate generation
    • Laboratory wipes shall be disposed of in closed receptacles that are in a ventilated enclosure
    • Contaminated gloves must be disposed of in the same closed receptacle
  • Wastes containing dry powder nanomaterials will be managed under ventilation controls until they are properly packaged and sealed for disposition
  • After the nanopowder waste is in a sealed container, the PPE should be employed to minimize dermal exposure when handling the containers.
