Dry Powder Waste Environmental Procedures

Operation:

Disposal of waste that contains nanoparticles that could become “free” including:

  • Dry powders
  • “Solid” waste from cleaning workspaces and equipment
  • Waste from powder spill cleanup

Scope

  • Powder wastes containing nanomaterials will be managed under ventilation controls until they are properly packaged and sealed for disposition
  • Standard waste analysis will be performed on any solid waste produced which contains nanomaterials
  • Appropriate waste streams will be determined based on analysis results
  • As new, proven analysis methods and techniques are developed for nanomaterials, they will be employed in waste stream characterization
